If purification doesnt hurt your fish, it wont hurt you. Pretty much all chemicals and contaminants would burn off around 200degrees.

I'm also wondering what makes water conditioner so bad... The fish live in it their whole lives and, if your fish eats other fish, those fish have also lived in water treated with water conditioner, right?
On the topic of me actually eating them, I wouldn't. I eat fish (and my fish eats fish), but I wouldn't eat a PET fish. Perhaps if I kept some for that express purpose I might, but that's a big unknown.

I'd figure a tank-raised fish would be much better for you than a farm-raised fish... assuming you cared for them well. Though, I doubt it would be cost effective.
