Here's why..........
The wild females expend so much energy producing and caring for their eggs. They don't grow nearly as fast.
The males just carry on eating, growing & looking for other chicky babes
The same is true for captive crays if male & female are kept together.
Both M & F will grow bigger and much faster if they're kept in single sex tanks.
Interesting... on a couple different sites I've read that females get larger than males. This must only be true when they are kept in captivity. Thanks for the info.
