The fish is NOT a mayan. The barring is wrong, head/mouth shape is wrong (concurrent with that of RD/Midas) and so is the color.
To add, the fish is most likely female due to the spot in the dorsal, though this is a trait that a female uro would share with this fish it is also a factor in trimacs and FH.

For reference, Male uro:

Female uro:

Notice that the color on the unpaired fins progresses to a deeper red color. There is pattern and coloration on the gillplate.
There is not much fine spangling in the unpaired fins.
The tail spot covers most of the caudal peduncle.

In OP's fish the color in the unpaired fins are reddish orange, heavily spangled and edged in a dark color.
The tailspot in on the upper half of the caudal peduncle like you would see in trimac or standard grade flowerhorn.

And quite obviously, the iris of the mayan is not red as it is in OP's fish.

She's right. :)

not mayan unless crossed with festae. looks to be festae crossed with something. eyespot is high on tail fin which says festae but head shape and not crossing front bar leads me to believe festae hybrid. maybe a few more pics would help out. possibly the front y bar isnt showing in that pic but the head shape still looks a little diff.

there is definetly no Y bar on that fish, and festae arent the only fish that have an eye spot. It may have some festae, but I dont truly see anything that would make me say its definetly part festae.

i didnt say festae are the only fish that have a eyespot. i guess that would pretty dumb to say festae only have a eyespot. i said the eyespot is very high on the tailfin along with the coloration id say its part festae. if it were mayan the eyespot would be center. eyespot and color of fish says festae. no y bar and diff head shape says no festae therefore festae x something

I agree...I definitely see festae in that fish but it's certainly not pure...nor is it pure mayan either...hell it's not a "pure" anything. most likely a FH with that was recently crossed to a festae.

SHES DEAD ON! this fish looks more festae male. i have males of both and my mayan is wild caught and still isnt that vibrant but more of a washed out redish hue. also the mayan doesnt have the blue speckle in the finnage like the festae. pretty fish whatever it is. if i had to choose id say male festae or hybrid.

Definetely a hybrid. Drab colors look uropthalmous but circular eyespot looks festae. Colors on operculum look FH but I see little trimac in this fish. Going to be very dificult to know for certain. My guess is FH mixed with festae.

Good Luck.
