If you have young kids and a pool you need to do everything you can to protect them, most put up fences and have eagle eyes but accidents still happen. I said that as a "non" pool owner. If I was loaded my kids would have plastic bubbles.....Green is me, Red is applicable for people with mansions, butlers, and 9,000 square feet. I am lower middle however (lol) and I pride myself on the amount of accidents that DON'T happen in my house (or with my kids mainly) That vid was HORRIFIC to see, 5 mins later? WOW "I believe it already" is all I could think.



If your kid (6 mos to 18 mos or ever for that matter) falls in a pool YOU SUCK AS A PARENT!.......

i agree.....why would you want to teach your child to do this... it should never happen in the first place nevermind teaching them how handle surviving in water because of crappy parenting. i'm all for teaching children at 6 to swim but causing stress on a child that can't speak yet ....is weird :nilly: child abuse! lol
 
Fact: Thin people sink.
Fact: Fat people float.

Im 14 and 56Kg or 123.2 lbs. I sink like lead.
yet fat people and or people with a wide body float much easier.

Infants can learn. I have watch tv shows where parents teach their infants sign language to communicate with them since they cannot speak yet.

I don't think that this would be the result of "bad parenting", yes mentioned earlier accidents do happen, and when you are a stay at home parent you have other things to do on top of watching your kid and having a pool doesn't mean that you have a mansion and millions of dollars. This would be a VERY useful technique to teach your child for that "just in case" situation.
 
no way! i would never let my child be taught to do that at such a young age.... whats wrong with watching them 24/7? how would you go about teaching a child to do this anyway..... just keep pushing them into a pool until they learn to float.
and you cannot compare this to sign language
 
I am a parent of a 13 month old, and watch her like an eagle. There hasnt been a moment where either my wife or me hasnt known where she is and what she is doing....but it would be very foolish of me to think that it will always be that way.Accidents happen...you never know what can happen, The "what if's" are endless...I rather be prepared. I tried to convince my wife to do the baby swimming classes, as a few of the kids in the family have done them with no problems, and give the kids credit...they are much smarter than you think. I've always had my pre-conceived notions of what a baby can learn...that all changes when you are a parent and see how much they absorb daily...they are VERY observant...I think that we equate lack of speech or limited language abilities with intellegence....thats completely incorrect and just part of the learning process ;) My only concern here is the process of teaching them this...
 
Wow disturbing.. I am amazed a mind that young could learn that.. but..

Let's cover our azz in case one day while we're neglecting to watch our kids they stray and walk/fall into the pool... seriously wtf..

I'm pretty sure there is a better way of teaching this than continously pushing your kid in the water, I mean come on, use your head.
