Can your baby do this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
great, so the kid won't drown. . . . but you can't train them not to get hypothermia because they just fell into a 68 degree pool and the parents didn't notice for ten minutes.

Yea Hypothermia came to mind.

no way! i would never let my child be taught to do that at such a young age.... whats wrong with watching them 24/7? how would you go about teaching a child to do this anyway..... just keep pushing them into a pool until they learn to float.
and you cannot compare this to sign language

you will think difrently when you have had to watch them for 8 months 24/7

im only 16 but my parents have foster children since i was like 6 . we have had about 30 babys between 6 days and 3 years .
when i help watch them i know that the minute you take your eyes off a child they will run for water . i have a pond and when i sit at the pond with the 5 month old on my knee he will stare at the water for up to an hour .
i would love for my kids to learn this .

im sure they would teach the kids slowly , and try to make it fun .
i dont think they would just push the kids into the water and hope for the best :nilly:

we like to take the kids to are local pool for as early ass possible .

i think i could swim before i could walk lol:ROFL:

I think we're going to take the classes. Not only for the safety aspect, but so that she can have more fun with us in the pool. She wants to swim with us so badly she throws tantrums.

Plus how funny would it be to go to a public pool and toss a toddler into the pool in front of everybody?

LOL I think you might get into a little trouble for that.

Trouble is half the fun. :headbang2

For added shock value I could do a cannonball right next to her as she's floating an her back. :grinno:

why didn't i think of that....

i see why your all sayin its a great idea....kinda ....but does it really need to be taught to a 6month old? errrrrrrrr no. i've stuided child care for the last... 2 years and i still don't see the need for stress on a 6month old child who can't tell you that he/she wants to learn this. yeah accidents happen bla bla bla but there are dangers EVERYWHERE ;) . and still the child might forget how to float so you spent all that time trying to teach them this for nothing.

my idea is to watch them 24/7 until they are old enough to learn NOT TO GO NEAR THE POOL.(just like you teach them not to go near the road ...doesn't mean we should have kids with built in air bags just incase) when u have a child don't you have to child proof the house anyway? using locks and saftey gates and plug protector things sooooooo a pool cover isn't rocket science. reeto
