If you need a ratchet shifter for racing, one would hope you have enough time/experince to know what a ratchet shifter was for prior to installing it.

I didn't install it, a car Im looking at has one and I was wondering what it was now that I know what its for Im trying to help people that also dont know what it is

If the car is a street driven car with one, I'd highly suggest finding another car. Chances are it's been abused.

Sorry if I'm coming off harsh.... why use a track car as a daily driver?
I mean I did for awhile, but by choice while I made a daily driver. And I removed the track duty stuff, and made it more street worthy.

That's just a fancy auto shifter. It's used in racing to prevent accidental upshifts, shifts into neutral or worst reverse. If you're brand new to them, they can be a pain getting the car into park (well my dad thinks so). Usually it's the smaller lever you have to pull in order to get the trans into N and R.

no not coming off harsh Im glad your responding Id like to learn all the pros and cons.
Im using it as a daily driver because I want something smaller and more fun for the summer.

BTW cons of using a track car as a gaily driver?
