Cat saves boy from being mauled by dog

Yes the dogs are capable of making decisions no one denies this fact. My problem with the way you state this is you're making it in way that makes it seem like the dog knowingly committed a immoral or wrong act. Animals don't have morals or right or wrong. No one is saying the dog isn't going to have a punishment as a result of its actions, it's getting euthanized. The reason I still fail to understand you is that the way you state your position and please correct me if I'm wrong is that owners or people are not responsible for the dogs under their care. Since before that dog was born its very existence was the result of people and by extension its temperament, genetics, socialization and so on. One thing vast majority of dogs owners lack a understanding of is temperament and how their behavior directly shapes and effects their dogs. Intentional or not every time you interact with a dog you are altering and shaping its behavior. Reason I still blames owners is they allowed a dog to roam. I don't care weather or not they've had a hundred dogs before hand who roamed and did nothing, each dog is unique its mind unique its genetics unique. And when people fail to see and identify a dog that may do something such as this it is squarely their fault.

Hello; I keep forgetting that it is now fairly common for there to be any number of rationalizations and justifications for undesireable behavior. I saw that change as a public school teacher. That this sort of thing is now projected onto dogs has been a bit of a suprise the last few years.

Many decades ago if a dog attacked a child there was none of this: "its very existence was the result of people and by extension its temperament, genetics, socialization and so on. One thing vast majority of dogs owners lack a understanding of is temperament and how their behavior directly shapes and effects their dogs. Intentional or not every time you interact with a dog you are altering and shaping its behavior."
The dog was bad and was put down.

There are bad dogs and this is one of them. In some way laying it off on intreactions with it's environment, owners and such is a bit of a stretch.

Nature vs. Nurture ... the dog wasn't nurtured properly, so it devolved to it's nature. You were a teacher, so you probably saw the exact thing with kids in your classroom. You could tell which ones has proper training and discipline and which ones were neglected.

I won't continue to argue. My ideas are based of understanding off behavior and experience while yours are based off old ideas.
No one is making excuses I simply understand a dig bite has many layers and variables which you seem to completely disregard Understanding of canine has grown exponentially in recent times. That's all ill say on this matter. Agree to disagree it is

Amazing. Ten pages and no one is calling BS. No one questions the number of video camera angles on the same location. No one questions a dog stalking and supposedly attacking a child, yet gives up so easily when faced with a cat. No one questions why mom runs up and leaves her supposedly injured child to make sure the dog is back in its yard. SMH

Maybe the cameras are due to a recent rash of break ins and automobile hubcap theft,

At least two cameras on the same spot, kind of suspicious evenif you disregard everything else.

hello; According to a web news site today there were several security cameras. The video is an edited compilation of images from the cameras. Your contention that this is somehow staged is a new thought.

Hello; I will admit to being both old and old school. If I ever have another dog and it attacks a child, the dog will die by my hand.

Here is a thought? There may be some dog owners following this thread and perhaps pondering how they can better ensure that their dog is conditioned to not attack people. I mean beyond hoping for the best and locking the dog away from people. Perhaps those who are more up to date can point out a path these dog owners can follow. Perhaps some links to websites and such where they can achieve a better understanding of what you are talking about?

For those following this thread as spectators; "Are you not entertained?" (name the flick)

gladiator, yes you can condition a dog , need to be when they are young.
