Has anyone else ever noticed that not only are the cats(not catfish), interested in the toys but the cichla are?

When I play w/ my cats and have a little toy at the end of a sticky or string, Usually a bright toy, the cichla in the tank get all crazy and wanna play as well.

Is this bad for them or is this stimulating like play? I know its bad if they are gonna bash the walls of the tank. But boy do they really flare out their fins and brighten up.

Anyone else notice this?

awesome! i was showing my gf yesterday how rowdy my cichla can be, i love these little guys! i took some aluminum foil since its shiny and sort of made it into the shape of a spoon.

i put it in front of these guys and they went CRAZY!!!!!! they were thrashing back and forth splashing water and chasing the foil up and down the tank. they were a little pissed that it was on the outside and they couldnt get to it. the orinos got the most excited. theyre color turned very dark and they flared up. fun to watch.

ill have to get a video of it

My two Orinos will actually chase anything that goes flying in the air. I can play with them throwing a ball back and forth they will chase it from one end of the tank to the other. They get real dark and freak out trying to get to it. When my cats run back and forth through the hallway they try to eat them also its funny to watch.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. My azuls/kelberis will chase flies and drops of water running down the side.

Good stuff. Didnt know if anyone else had tried this. Definitely makes for some good pics. Did I say I picked up 8 2-3" orino's the other day...on pellets!

i think theyre just really greedy.

i swung my earphones in front of the tan and they went NUTS.
not just that, but any wire with a larger end swung in front of them made them go nuts.

Here is a pic of my temensis while he was chasing a cat toy. His colors really "pop" out while playing.
