Catfish For an 80 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well the bichir is now 100% confirmed so ehhhh maybe something smaller

Then I would go with synodontis... I keep a large Notatus and decorus with my 2 bichirs... If you want to spend the extra money I really think the dwarf giraffe cat is a species that should be more available than is giant cousin.. I had one I bought for $45 + shipping from wetspot and I absolutely loved him but I lost him due to mini cycle... A group would be awesome though.... I would try to stay away from anything crazy active imo so your bichirs still have a chance to get food... My synos spend a lot of their time under driftwood but they come out often enough that them hiding doesn't bother me and my bichirs get to food 90% of the time

i love bigger cats but with the bichir in i am worried that a catfish that grows big might attack it and even potentially kill it. I don't have many tanks only 2 are Running and i could maybe get a 3rd running. I'm fine with only the bichir, but as i am under the age of 18 my Mother says that it will look really boring with only 1 fish.

My large Notatus is significant larger than either of my bichirs and he does become a little bit territorial but nothing to worry about... Mostly just a little shove to get them away.... My bichirs are 5"- 6" and 7" - 8" and my largest syno is 9"+ and quiet beefy.... Make sure to provide plenty of hiding places though, I have one larger hiding place for my big syno so the smaller fish can have their own without him being able to get into them
