Caught a couple of florida gar last night, these pics are both of the same gar but I caught another one about an hour before. We were fishing for catfish too but didn't really get any good pics. Just thouht I'd share.

umm no not yet. this summer i may get a 240 or larger so if I do I will DEFINELTY keep 1, maybe 2. there awesome fish, I wish I would of gotten a close up of its teeth though
What did you catch them on? I have always wanted to catch them. They just never bite what I'm throwing for some reason...
I would love to get me a monster of those and to keep it a tank of mine!!! Must be so much fun, to catch your own tank fish!

just a hotdog. I put an iron leader on because before they were biting my line and I kept losing fish. It defiently takes a few trys to catch them. I probably hooked like 7 or more before I caught those 2. Also, try to not let the fight last that long, they usually don't even get hooked, and the line is just caught in there teeth, both of these fish, to get the hook out, i just coaxed there mouth open and slipped it out. a net is a good investment too.

I feel like an idiot. Thanks for the advice about the leader though!
yea lures suck for gars. at least for me. I got a hit once on a topwater frog but i had no leader so it bit the line. Hotdog, hamburger, anything meaty is good.
