Thanks thats unusual bait for freshwater.

Works like a champ for jags and I guess piranhas lol.... also works on various invasive cichlids.

I dream about fishing in South Florida... just dipnetting for all of my aquaculture needs...

Legal issues aside... Introduced species almost never 'decimate' native species... They tend to reach an equilibrium with their ecosystem, just like any other species. The exceptions are almost universally flukes.

The free movement of goods and people across the face of the Earth means that many times many more species will become 'invasive' or 'established' in non-native areas, whether it is legal or not.

I break no laws, but I enjoy cosmopolitan biodiversity.

very refreshing :)

its not entirely true

asian grass carps they can actually make an industry out of it, dog food, or human food. after all its a good eating fish

piranhas do coexist with animals and humans in south america, and most have not been neutered or castrated

zebra mussels, may have an impact on over filtering the water, and decreasing the population of the alewifes and prey for larger salmonids, but the salmonids, trouts and salmons were not native to the great lakes to begin with. and there is no issue of extinction to deal with, after all, they're mostly all hatchery fish released for "game"

tilapia, as much as you don't like it, its one of the most widely distributed food fish around the world, feeding over billion people. after all, human lives are more important right?

ruffe, all the years of fishing the great lakes, I've not caught one ruffe, are they really putting a hurt on the introduced "game fish" like salmons' eggs? rusty crays? they feed the game fish such as large mouth and small mouths!

people really need to have a more open mind about things.

I have to disagree with you. Asian carps, zebra mussels, tilapia, rusty crayfish, ruffe and round gobies can decimated natives easily. South Florida is out of question because its mess with too many exotics around here. And even in Florida, they do not reach a permanment equilibrium. Manmade canals are hardly an ecosystem because there are plently random fish show up in various times (depends on what species idiots would release them into the canals). Black acra used to be dominant species in these canals but spotted tilapia overtake the canals. Walking catfish used to post a threat but now the populations was decreasing than in the past. Even invasives can replace other invasives easily so its hard to say that its balanced.

Now I hope there will be no populations of piranhas in Florida canals because I heard they likes to neuter animals while swimming in the waters. Sadly there are feral populations of piranha in other states (cant remember which one).

Wow crazy catch....just crazy....

Ive been meaning to try that. I know the wife will let me keep Shrimp in the fridge/freezer but the nightcrawlers are out of consideration...

I am going to try it also. They actually sell it in few bait shops I just thought it was salt bait.

Your wife doesnt have to know about the worms. I had a worm "farm" in the garage its just to hot and they usually died thus froze them used them to feed my sunfish, etc .
I than put like 12 worms in a topperware container not big roughly quart size with soil-wet paper towels and piece of potatoe and air slits .

I put it in kitchen hidden high up on cabinet behind pots, etc that we dont use . I have never had so many worms in my life. Add wet paper towel here and there and bit of oatmeal, etc and fantastic reproduction only because of the cool house temp.

You can place it anywhere she wont know .

After close to 2 yrs of failed worms breeding low and behold the secret was the kitchen lol. Well, kitchen temp .
