semi short MAYBE, but defitnately not short body, i think on a short body the distance between the pectoral fin and the pelvic fin seems to be a better measurement

Thanks guys :)

Okay seriously though... these fish are gettin on my nerves. They *still* will only eat live food. No matter what I put in there with them, they just ignore it and I end up fishing it out and throwing it away. I still can't believe they refuse bloodworms. They're still pretty thin - so I don't want to deny them live food and try to force them onto market shrimp or some other type of food... but good LORD what's the deal? What size would any of you try to force them onto another food? Should I just keep offering alternatives, then let them have a feeder every few days so I know they don't starve?

Anne, I did go to the store and buy some extra fat, extra pregnant mollies. I liked your idea of guppy fry, but I figure that molly fry is born a bit larger than guppy fry so there would be more of a "meal" to the babies. Granted the quantity isn't as high in a batch, but they are still born at the same size of a month or two month old baby guppy so eh what the heck? I am going to move the pregos into the same tank as the endli babies and put some mesh netting I have over the filter intake and hope the babies drop soon. I also have a "special" breedery I may use... I used to breed guppies (got them up to 6th generation, woohoo lol) and I took a regular rectangular plastic breedery and knocked out the plastic bottom. I put the prego mama in the top and when the babies are born and fall thru the "V" slit, they are released directly into the tank with the endlis instead of being held hostage in the box until I can get to them. Cool idea huh? :)

Great idea for a thread!

I would start right away on switching their diet.

You already know to get them fat before fasting them, so that's good.

Once they're full on feeders and are nice and chunky, I would simply fast them for two weeks, no food offering at all.

After the two week fast, try market shrimp (massivore would probably be better).

If nothing, hold back feeding another week, then try again.

I have some 7" laps I've been trying to switch onto massivore from market shrimp.

Fasted them for 3 weeks, then offered massivore and they refused. I held back another week and they couldn't help but chow down on the smelly massivore.

Now they're getting weight back on them finally; they did get pretty thin, but I've learned to not get too concerned because they're smart enough to give up after a while.

This thread is for Keeper of the Ropes to show, and compare the growth of HER poly's. Do not derail the thread, and do not have childish fights.

BIG SCORE! I offered market shrimp again last night and tonight...

Last night Starvin Marvin hit the crap out of his little tiny piece and played with it, but no dice... ended up spitting it out. Fatass didn't even bother to look at it. BUTTT (whats the other one's name.... crap I'm a bad Mom... uhhh...oh!) Hunter tagged his chunk and made it disappear for good :) I think he actually eat two pieces.

Tonight was the exact same - Marvin hit it several times, and even chased his piece down, but didn't eat at all. Fatass ignored it, and Hunter ate. So one out of three like it, and one of the others is curious. We're gettin somewhere now :)

ETA: You all should have seen it... I was in there by the tank arguing with the babies... begging, even. Something along the lines of "How do you expect to have a Gustavo-type growth spurt without eating? It's good I promise!" and "You shouldn't just eat, you need to eat like growing little boys!":ROFL:

I got 10 from the same batch and they are all eating NLS cichlid pellets and Hikari mini sinking carnivore pellets that I got from Japan. threw in regular size sinking carnivore pellets the other night they also ate them. I found that all of my bichirs will accept sinking carnivore pellets within the first week of introducing it. you just have to be persistent:)
