centerpiece fish for 108gallon.

I would go for a V. Synspila or argentea
A Pair of Carpinte
Or maybe a pair Para. motaguensis.
Or a Nice single male flowerhorn

Would a carpintis and red texas fight consistently, I feel crazy for considering them together but the whole fire and ice contrast is cool. Just seems like red devils with diffrent color, same as a trimac or flowerhorn.

Might and might not - would have better luck growing them out together. This would be a cool combo for sure.

The only problem being it's doubtful that you will find any red texas, at least any quality specimens, in Calgary.

If you want to go with some of the larger species mentioned in this topic, my advice would be to buy a larger tank.

this thread went from looking for a single show fish to some random assortment of fish that shouldn't be kept in a 108g either because of size or aggression levels...... my advise is stick to your original plan of a single show fish. There are plenty of options available that would be both colorful and personable.

I couldn't agree more.

The whole "100 gallons isn't enough" thing is bull. You can have a great showy CA/SA tank with 100 gallons and multiple fish if you choose.

You just can't do multiple fish with Midas/RD, Trimac, Flowerhorn, etc...Although a tank dedicated to a really nice specimen of any of these is awesome.

You CAN do multiple fish with fish like JD, GT, Carpinte, etc...All bright showy fish (especially the GT in my opinion). Maybe do a GT and a JD with a few severum, or something like that.

Just know that there ARE options either way you want to go with a 100 gallong tank.

You make it sound as though throwing in "a few severum" is no big deal. Severums can reach 12" and I've had a couple that weren't too easy going with their tankmates.

If your friend wants multiple fish rather than one or two, stick to species that stay under 10". Maybe try a female salvini, male sajica, and a rotkiel severum (get's a little larger, but the sajica and female salvini stay at or under 6") for nice diversity in color.

You're right. Spoke before thinking. I just always think of them as "small" for some reason.

Take the severum's out of my post, and insert dither of choice.
