I had two cheap filters from walmart for a while then i picked up a cascade 1000 used from my buddy, i cleaned it all up with some warm water cleaned the fish tank in the process with my usual chemicals and the tank is a little cloudy no big deal but... one of my pbass has a white film on him? kind of like he was scratching against the drift wood? will post pics later but in the mean time id like to know if anyone has had this problem? thanks
Glenn

i had that with my red tailed catfish went away but still dont know what it is, what kind of chemicals did you use? i only clean my tank with water

I've had good luck with my cascade 1000, check your water, one of my fish started to have wierd white stuff on it sides and was doing the dame thing, i found out my water was all messed up...Ph was way down and Amonia was through the roof... Fixed the water and all fish are fine now...

the only chemicals that i use are:
salt
cycle
algae destroy in small moderation!

thats it, i have had very good luck with my water in the past but i am contiplating getting a ph kit because with 5 pbass there some nasty mo-fo's! but great to watch!

its what i thought after feeding my catfish a lot af seafood he got the white stuff maybey its has something to do with salt?

Did you add the cascade and immediately remove the old filters? If so, you're cycling again.

He's probably losing his slime coat due to ammonia... which could happen with an RTC also. Add Prime to the tank to detox the ammonia and you'll have to let it re-cycle.

were do i get prime from?

are the fish going to be ok? because if not imma be real pi$$ed off because ive had them for almost a year since they were juvis

You need to get Prime. You can get it at just about any fish store. I think Petsmart has it.

The filters you had were full of bacteria that converted the ammonia to nitrates. Which is what filters do. When you removed the old filters, you removed most of this bacteria.. The filter needs time to regrow that bacteria. Until then your fish will suffer, and may die. If you've had the pbass for a year, then they should be 8"+ and should be able to witstand some ammonia. You need to get the Prime ASAP though.

what if I connect the older filters back up for a day of two will that increase there chances?
