No I would not it’s interesting his colors became much lighter and vibrant after you gave him mirror time despite the dark background and substrate but just because of that his color should soon go back to as dark as it was before.
You are saying you wouldn't keep my tank the way it is? What would you change?
 
Personally I liked the darker tone. But of course that's personal preference. I use black background and a neutral brown substrate. Mine's a golden base fader so it doesn't fluctuate in color like yours does.

Yeah I couldn't believe the instant changes and getting lighter. This morning he is back to his darker self. I'll put up pics of him today when I get home.
