  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update***

The Channa ate today... he had a block of bloodworm and half of a nightcrawler earthworm... (a fat juicy one)... I think im in the c lear if he's eating so well.

He was rather stressed since I got him on sunday... and his fins are a bit torn from all of it... but today he is eating healthily and settling down and the oscars have gotten bored of him ;)

that happens a lot when i get a new bottom dweller theyre just curious and after theyre done trying to figure out what he is theyll leave him alone and let him get settled

Update****

He's doing really well :)
Eating loads (earthworms, bloodworm etc..)... hasnt eaten pellets (which I saw him eat at the LFS)... but his colours are really coming out well and he seems quite settled and relaxed. I did lower the tank temp to 24c (from 26c)... I'll keep everyone updated as he progresses... but so far he's doing well in an established cichlid and other large fish aquarium

quick update... Hope this works as I'm on a train and typing this from my iPhone.
My girl just called me ( on my way home from work ) to tell me the snakehead is dead!!!
Obviously very upset right now and a few hours from home still..
He was really doing so well and settling in and feeding... !!!

deleted my own post cos i would have cause a lot of offence

just listen next time before you kill your channas with ignorance

and i don't care if that remark offends

thankyou for the edit uli . i think this is just another example why they should be in species only tank, and why i defend my position regarding the sticky on the subject. unfortunatly this fish is actually very rare in the wild and only caught from a small section of quite a small stream , it would not suprise me if there are more now in captivity than the wild . this makes it twice as sad. not just your fault for not reasearching your purchace (iam sure we have all made impulse buys before) but also the stores fault for not marking up such a wonderfull fish as a species only and more importantly a sub-tropical fish . hopefully some people will read this and learn from it .

cheers col

cheers guys...
and thanks for editing your post... ;)
I did impulse buy this fish, but only becuase I was under the impression that it was a tropical dwarf channa... and that I had seen other dwarfs successfully live in large communities with loads of hiding spaces and water. also, there is not much information on these fish yet which is why it would be hard for anyone to buy it without being ignorant over its requirements.

Its very unfortunate that he died, and to be honest im really not too sure how it happened... he was really doing well and feeding a lot... only thing that springs to mind is that the temp was 24c and he must have needed much lower being a sub tropical species... unfortunately in my current setup I couldnt go lower than 24c.
