channa ornatipinnis grow out

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well today while i was doing my feeding (which is so fun with SHs) i notice some strange behaviour, one of the slightly smaller one would swim up to the mid region in the tank and straight away three of the larger ones would be there to join it, completely ignoring the food, a couple would do a bit of intertwining and then two would swim around together for a bit and the go there own way. im thinking this is a female that is attracting the males. the only aggression i have seen is towards the smallest one but he can hide where the others cant.

may need to split them up sooner than planned hahahah, the largest is still under 3" but they are eating like made and you can almost watch them grow so wont be long..

a few updated pics for you all

seem to be a bit of chasing going on so soon have to split them up I think.

look at their little fat bellys, they look so delicate at that size!-) soon they will be fat 9-10inch monsters like my one, fear for my hand a little, ive heard of little rainbows drawing blood!

hahaha I fear for my hand already, they straight at the top second you go near the tank hahahah

so a video to show some progress, these seem to be growing like weeds at the moment the largest is nearly 4"

cool video dude, do they hand feed yet?

i havn't tryed yet, but they arn't shy as soon as i come in the room they group up at the front and then they keep checking the top to see if food is there. i may give it a go over the weekend, i'm gonna buy some micro meal worms and see how they do with them. I keep looking for small crickets but so far everytime i been to the local place they dont have any small enough.

what are they on atm fella?

pellets, prawn, fillet, bloodworm, tubifix, brine shrimp lol anything they can fit in there mouth. I have tried them on pretty much everything i have food wise and they eat the lot freeze dryed, frozen or fresh they really don't care. if i can't get the small meal worms ill grab some red wrigglers and try them on that. I'm just keeping it varied at the moment.

also on twice daily feeds with 2 days a week no feeds at the moment, but both feeds are small, so a few broken pellets in the morning and then one cube of blood worm in the evening ( just for an idea of quantity)

Cool, Cant do much more than add a few insects then, hand fed rufus after I suggested it to you, first time since he had got big, went through a nervous stage but seems to be coming outta his shell again!-)
