Channa Sp White Pearl Lemon

My LFS has White Black Stick coming in next week.

I wonder if they have black fins or just all white, using the google translate I find a few sites that call them "White Black Stick" , but i get the impression "black stick" is a loose translation for what they call argus, and "White" refers to this form be it with whit, black or yellow fins.

Interestingly i found one place indicating that with the black fin variety the dorsal turns golden with age, while with the white and yellow fined ones it's more silver, but that was just one of many sites most dont translate very well through google, so it's a lot of piecing together what various sites say to make sense of it lol.

White mullet combination of special aquatic Marketing Association chairman Yang Qian Lezhi 28 years of effort . At 14:10 on March 20, 1987 , I used the nets at the mouth of the reservoir downstream of the stone town Guyan river fishing, caught a male white mullet in killing the bridge 11 meters square , white body black eyes, weighing 2.6 jin . I only white mullet treasured immediately back Guyan mouth reservoir fishery , raising fish pond into the 4th seed . Since then, four female white mullet looking for pairing. Devon, great job ( asd usual )

Mine looks exactly like the one below in that pix.

I have to admit, with 7 or 8 Chann species ( ans some quite larger, ie Aurantis and Micros ) that this one is by far the most impressive aspecimen I have ever had. It is not the platinnum/metal colour. it is the attitude. The real mean snake like loo it gives me, the mean intelligence in its eyes.

I am in love with this critter.

If it is an Argus, well, the better! I have the right tank waiting for it.

Thanks !

the 3rd link over is a photo gallery, Check out the adults! Beastly looking things!

Next step , I'll hunt down all the data i can get about the weather, seasons and water parameters in that river/area ! I wonder how cold they can go, I would really like to do a pond for them out back if they can handle the winters. If anyone has/finds info on that area and the water please let me know!

You nailed it Defvon.

it is exactly the fish depicted in the video!

must be the biggest feature on Channa all over ( 25 minutes of it ) and I do not understand one thing, fer chrissakes except that they are kept at aroun30 Cºs ( which is not logical with Argus )

I keep mine at sub-tropical temps....

I have no wifi right now but will watch tonight(in 12 hours or so). Apparently this fish is widely bred in china for food and the video is concerning breeding and growing practices in ponds. May-aug is breeding season which peaks in July. Each female can carry 10000-20000 eggs...they are harvested when the fish reach about 200grams...with the video, it describes how you can reach that size by dec of the same year.

I believe that is the summer temperatures , referencing the temperatures where max growth occures. On other sites i've seen reference to "the main growing season is july - october, temperature range in july -september listed as 21.4 - 30.8.

So considering all of the information out there is based on farming, if you want rapid turnover and big fish with short lives then high temps is the way to go. Since they will be someones dinner before it catches up with them health wise high temps are ideal for THAT purpose. But for long term survival and/or breeding i'm sure would need the winter cool down.
