I think I saw the retail price at $12.50 each. He might jack up the price. He asked me before if I want any and he said $100 each as he said only 40 of them available in the "world". Lol! Might have to visit him this weekend and check.

LOL sure if you dont count the tens of thousands of them farmed in china LOL

12.50 really sounds like a reasonable price, that 100$ price tag is just because the original suppliers were pretending not to know what they were to jack up the price.

how much ?? just curious

$100.

I know you are asking about Canada.

For me it was 68€.

That's about $100CAN I believe. Pretty much the same price here.

Haha.
The good thing is that you can barter there. You could probably talk him down to $80 each. He already sold 3 and there were only 4-5 left he said.

I bet they also are ordering from Glaser aquarium. All the ones i've seen available have traced back to that batch. My local shop can also get them for ~ 100 canadian, but i'm not in a rush.

I'll wait give it a few months, I bet the combination of knowing that they are not at all rare but are actually mass produced combined with the fact that demand for them will likely drop knowing they are argus just do to shear size potential should drive down the price on them. If not no big deal, i've already been in contact with some local hatcheries about the possibility of ordering them as an experimental "livestock" rather then getting them through the pet trade.

These were ordered directly from Singapore.
If you're in contact with the hatcheries, it will probably be cheaper to order from them.

Let me tell you that this is one of the most fascinating Channas i have had access to.

Firstly, no pix or vid does it justice.

Secondly it has a pistoleer air that does not compare with the goofy look of some species or the bulldoguish look of others.

I am in love with these guy. And i think import through Glaser means without parasites. From asia direct, i have had my experiences...

He called me today and said that they got new snakeheads. I asked for the price and he said he sold 2 for $250 each and told me they sell fast. If I wanted any he said he's gonna give me a good price but wont say how much though. Lol!

Haha. When I went in there to look, he said that he sold 3 for $115 each and that he would give me a good deal.

He even told me on the one that 1 guy want all but he told me that I'm special customer that he hold some for. Lol!

Man you guys are amazing. Finally cracking the mystery Platinum Channa. Thanks guys! Lovely reading through all these info, really beautiful fishes :D

Do you mind if i share these links? Here locally, our shops have a lot of these. Would be great to let people know what they are buying. Don't think many would like a small platinum turning into an argus.
