Characin update 3/16

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very much appreciated....... I'm honored.

Still have a few more swimming around here. Will try to grab a few pics today.

Do have a hell of a dillema on my hands here thought, and that's the Armatus' teeth. They've been in some very expensive fish that I consider irreplaceable. Do any of you guys feel like I'd have better luck mixing the ATF with the Dorado and Lince then the Armatus? Problem is it seems the Armatus are growing tired of the nonstop movement of these fish and have began taking swipes at them. For some reason I want to think the ATF might actually swim with them instead of lurking down low and swiping like the Armatus do whenever they swim by....... IF anyone's ever tried to 2 I'd love to hear the result...
I think the question is depends on what you feel has the greater reward. If the risk out weighs the reward then move the artamus.

Tanks look good too.

No the question is what is going to be more harmful - Keeping ATF with Dorado or keeping Armatus with Dorado....

I have no intentions of selling the Dorado. Will probably try the ATF with the Dorado once the divider in the big tank comes down. Worst case scenario the Armatus go and ATF go back to a smaller tank I guess......

I think the armatus fangs are more fatal due to size. I'd try the atf instead.

how big was your first armatus and is he active? also is it true they need soft water my water is like 7ph , I can buy one and put him in a 265 7ft tank by hisself i just dont want him to die, any pointers. Also who needs the bigger tank in the long run a lone VATF or lone Armatus

I've been waiting to see when your atf make it to the big tank. It may or may not work but probably worth a try. Perhaps the dorado will be busy enough with each other they won't hassle the atf too much. Small dorado have been popping up again and I've been tempted to add one with my vatf.

Here's my issue with the ATF - Tatf are viscous. Vatf and Gatf cannot hang with them. YET they seem to tolerate Masheer?

While the V and G have seemed to quit growing the Ts keep going. Even the evil one confined to a 180 seems to be picking up size.

IF there wasn't a divider in the 750 I'd just toss them in and see what happens but I fear with there being 3 Tatf that they may shred the entire tank.

My water is very hard very high PH. No clue what Armatus "need" for water but I've tried them for years and failed all but this last time. No idea what was so different from prior attempts. Seems to me like ATF handle smaller tanks better then Armatus. Neither of my Armatus are very active, but when compared to tank mates like Dorado and Lince nothing seems very active.

Amazing update db! Always envious of your setups. As a note to what you said earlier about Masheer being tolerated by your tatfs, my blue masheer will go heads up back and forth head butting my brasi dorado. It's quite a sight, I was quite impressed at them going back and forth lol.
