You're on the right track I think the same way!

You can also take time to prepare the food while the coals heat.

It becomes more of an event when using charcoal. If you don't want to make it an event, then stick with "cooking" on gas. I'll continue to enjoy "grilling":)

Midnight turns his steak into beef jerkey anyway, so that pretty much makes his grilling argument null and void hahaha.

EXACTLY! :headbang2 I like my GRILLED food evenly cooked through, not just crusted on the outside. :D

Please notice that the steak isn't red. It's pink. It's thoroughly cooked, just not ruined.

I CAN taste the propane. Trust me. Your taste buds may not be the same as mine, but I'm telling you I can taste it. You can't drink beer around propane because you don't have time to drink it, remember, 1st min heated, 3rd min cooked? You don't have time to talk with your boys and put down 3 or 4 beers before propane's ready, I do. Mostly, though, I can taste the gas, and don't like it.
to each their own ;)
but if you think coals taste better then propane you have odd taste buds :grinno:
and the min and 3 min was a joke lol

said it a bunch but
propane still needs to heat up
that time is prep time
then it takes time to cook
so in the end it still takes time
and if you cant bs or chat or do this or that in an hour you got problems :D
and dont pick on my steaks or yours might end up on the ground, oops :grinno:
and i do turn my steaks into true beef jerky,oh you would love it to

i go for 160 most of the time in the cabinet ;) o yea thats low

Well from the looks of it, midnight, you're the one with odd taste buds because right now it's 30-14-1 charcoal-propane-oven. CHARCOAL ROCKS!!! Marinated steaks on the grill are freakin' sweet! (actually spicy, depending on what marinade I use, but w/e). The charcoal gives it a good flavor. If it tastes like ash then you were shaking the grill when there were coals in it; or you were dumb enough to burn it. And charcoal produces carbon monoxide, which will harm you from the grill only if you're burning in an enclosed space, like your living room, a car, etc. or if you inhale the smoke for a bit. zuchinni strips with seasoned salt and olive oil is excellent. Even hot dogs taste better over charcoal. If you're going to use propane, why not just use your microwave? That's about how enjoyable propane is. The wait for charcoal to heat up can be very fun. if spent properly...

this thread is going no where lol
my taste buds are great
on a propane grill
i taste my seasonings, marinade, and the meat
not like on a coal grill where all i taste is coals
;)

and no way a micro can compare to propane
guess you dont know propane cus it still tastes grilled
;)

Looks good! Sure would be better on charcoal though;)
