I use the purina aquamax stuff, good stuff if you've got big fish with big appetites.

Are these quality fish food? does it have any enhancers in it like for instance.. brings out color? or faster growth?

Thanks cass, I'll look into that too.

Does anyone have the nutritional information on the purina? Percentage breakdown isn't on their site.

This is a VERY bad idea. Fish are not equipped to break down the mammalian fats and proteins in bologna. I don't even eat the garbage myself. Bologna is anus, uterus, penis, hooves, ears, tongues and all the other crap parts of the animal. Grind it up with a bit of fat, color it pink and call it bologna.

:iagree:

When I was in the army I once used a balogna to destroy a tank!

mammalian fats isn't detrimental to all carnivores, and when used in small amounts, can be a good part of a VARIED diet. I use beef heart and chicken livers in my home made food and have never noticed any type of bloat in my fishes (not even the herbivorous fishes).

However, I wouldn't use bologna because of the insane amounts of salt and nitrates used to cure it. It would be kinda like feeding your fish bacon or summer sausage. Plus, due to the incredibly high fat content, you would only be able to feed so little that it would contain no real nutritional value at all for your fish.

You've got a point there with the beefheart, but most of it is trimmed so the fish eat straight protein with minimal fat content.

The food is designed for gamefish, so it doesnt have much in terms of color enhancers. It does have a decent amount of protein, you can check the website for ingredients and the different grades available. The only thing i noticed about it, is if you feed alot at one time it makes your water smell like the food for a little bit.

See if you can get a sample from somewhere to see if your fish will take it, if they don't you will be stuck with a whole lot of trout chow..lol.
