But tbh finding similar species that you will not have problems with is more effort than its worth, like you said its bad enough the animals are in this box, lets provide them with a secure, safe and most of all COMFORTABLE one at that. Many of us do not realise that even being housed with their own kind can make an animal uncomfortable (through stress) nevermind differen't species. I don't see the need in it.

I agree. And you got to consider when keeping mix tanks is the density inside, even when you mix herps from the same area. 3 Green Anoles, 2 Green Treefrogs and 1 Gray Treefrog may live in the same area in the wild but not in the confined square feet of a 29 gallon tank. :grinno: I'm not saying that mixing herps can never work, but it's better to be done in a large setting like at a zoo.

maybe if the advise is not going to be takin you should find a different forum do we want you here yes but if you dont take there advice find someone else but we all dont want that cause we want THE HEALTHY AND PROPER CARE FOR THE ANIMALS SAKE thats what everyone wants you guys to understand healthy happy animals.

HAHAHA K7 you could never be more wrong? Care to tell me what you are thinking LOL!

lol i know im a terrible person. hahah it would also make petsmart and its petcare department wrong too! Oh do you know if we got those new reptiles in?

sooo... if one of us aka the people you call the girl group gets banned then we all get banned? so thats kind of silly. Sure we stick up for each other but we do have different opinions about things.

this is the first forum ive ever been apart of and i didnt know it was sooo much like the people on xbox live.

So what some of you are trying to say is that mixing any type of herp together is WRONG. You say that the herps are unhappy and we just dont know it. But like someone said before you want your herp to thrive in its environment. So what if you have mixed herps and they are thriving? Is it still wrong then? This is a question i want answered so can someone answer it without calling me out and being rude.

haha oh i know that most petstores that deal with the animals are wrong. You go to petco or other petsmarts and some wont even show you the reptiles because they are scared of a leo. its rather funny sometimes.

I was only saying that we have a skunk gecko and a golden gecko housed together and i house those two together at home. So again is there anything wrong with this because mine are happy and thriving.

Like i said i want some opinions on this senerio instead of people saying never house different species together!

Most reptiles are solitary creatures. Being kept alone is the best way to keep them together. There are exceptions with Bearded Dragons tend to be very social with their own kind and there are geckos that do form colonies. But there are really no herp that socialize with other species, so unless kept in an enclosure that can mimic its environment, hence big enough so they never run into each other, can be stressful on them. What is the plus side of keeping let's say a green tree frog and a green anole together? If their environments are similar doesn't mean that they should strive together. Since they would more than likely never come across each other in the wild.

haha hmmm i dont know how to explain how i can tell they are happy together but you know when you can just tell? Plus they are treat each other as if they were the same species. They are growing at a good rate, have never attacked each other and choose to spend time together. I have a large tank and they are never on opposite sides of the tank they are always toghther and i have 4 hideouts for them and they still choose to stay together there too.

oh another question is how do you tell if they are unhappy or stressed because ive seen no signs of them being stressed.

Most petsmart employees are bad . . . like the one that I bought the water dragon from in puyallup and he put the poor thing in a fish bag and then inside of a small animal box . . .
But anyway, we at this one try to get as much information as we can from many different sources and whenever we get a new guy in I (as the petcare lead) try to do as many web searches on the species and combine all the info together so that the new owner has a variety of info and knows where to find more.
There are many things that the corporate part of petsmart tries to make us do wrong but we do our best to make a safe environment for our herps and fish.
On the other side I completely understand if you are a little warry of anyone who says that they work at petsmart.

And no K7 no new babies yet. We didnt even get crickets in until like 8 last night when they usually come around 11 am.
