Chinese Perch (almost) 3 month growth

You're lucky that yours will eat prepared food! Yours is the only other that I've heard of eating pellets. Mine will eat almost any sinking pellet, but loves kensfish color sticks. Eventually, this one will lose the red as well. They just don't maintain that color throughout their lives.

I agree. I am very fortunately with my cperch.

Mine current cperch started on live too, since it also wouldn't eat anything prepared. But I did the same trick when training pbass to get off live food.. drop in one feeder at a time. Eventually, after starving her for a day or two, I dropped it a small piece of market shrimp like a feeder and then he hit it. I did the same with the floating pellets, as the water column moves them and keeps her interest. (Worked with one of my cperch, but not the other).

But you have a fine specimen It was the beautiful pictures of your old cperch that got me interested in these guys. Now, she's one of my all time favs.

How Big do they get? I had one and also noticed rapid growth. It met it's demise when trying to swallow a clown loach. I found the clown loach and the cp both dead with the loach lodged in it's mouth - spines erect.

they'll reach 24-30" I had one before that was a bit over 20"
