Hello,

Just a few questions about breeding chocolates, hoping to hear from someone with experience. The past 3-5 days or so both of my chocolates have been constantly flaring their gills at each other and twitching/shaking. Just wondering if I should be expecting them to spawn soon and when? What is the process like from here? Thanks

Matt

Would love to see your pair :)

Aww nice I have 2 babies growing out hope they get nice color like this guy

No one with experience breeding them?
I don't see too many people on here talking about breeding chocolates. I'm sure a few have but sometimes you gotta wait a little bit before someone replies.

I have bred my pair like...20 times without trying. Just had em in a planted 125g and once the two I hit 4" they bred like crazy! So from my experience you just get fry without trying. They are about as easy as kribensis - maybe easier.

Idk man there's not too much else to report. I let most of the fry get eaten cuz I could never find homes for that many chocolates. I kept one brood and it's really difficult finding stores that will take them. Great fish though!

Wow very nice. Mine have been looking like they are very close and it hasn't happened yet and not sure why. I am wondering if they are both males maybe? Both twitch it and puffing out their gills to each other, eyes bright red, but one is just following the other around and the other swims away. Occasionally they will face each other and then circle around and do it then the other will just swim away. Increased the temp a bit and have been feeding live black worms. But nothing.
