True parrots and chocolate cichlids are virtually the same fish in behavior and temperament. Some individuals will be more dominant and others less.

Is it just me or do they look similar in a way as well? Their "beak" / mouth look similar to me from the side.

Does look female to me.another thing for helping ID is look near anal fin blunt is female (tube for eggs will be extended at times) pointy is male

That's why I rarely ever say what is what unless I see them breeding or obvious differences but with these guys, it's hard to tell.
