My ray's had no issues in the past with it's current inhabitants (peacock bass, a geo, and a silver aro) and I thought everything would be fine when I added a flagtail. I've been watching the ray closely to see if there were any "suck" marks on the disc that would indicate the fei feng had been attacking it. Nothing the last few weeks it's been in the tank but this morning....there were chunks missing from the outter diameter of the disc! I'm not sure if it's the fei feng or if someone else is picking on the ray. What does a typical fei feng attack look like?! The ray has been kind of pale these last few days too...I'm going to check the water parameters tonight but nothing has really changed so I don't know...

I don't know if I should move the ray to another tank or move the fei feng. I don't want to stress the ray out but I don't want to assume the fei feng is the problem and have the attacks continue from another fish.

Advice? :nilly:

My guess would be the aro or the pbass being he's a solo ray, i know both can get rather nippy if someone gets into their territory or in their way when eating.. Geo's are usually pretty mellow and don't mess with anyone. I'm not sure the flagtail would take chunks out of the disk but mine made almost bald spots on the top of my male marble when i noticed he was sucking on him..:irked: Then of course like alot of ray keepers the flagtail had to go..:(

I have a ray named "Scarrlette". This name was given to he after a Fei Feng attack.

Stupid combination in my opinion. And that opinion is surrounded by plenty of real world experience. Not many out there have long term success. Most people say it worked, but they seem to forget to let everyone know that it just took a lil longer for it to not work. Easier to forget then to admit your ray was harmed because of it's keepers poor choices......

The Fei feng is my #1 suspect since the other fish have never showed any interest in the ray since it was introduced months ago...

the only thing that's making me second guess the fei feng is the type of damage. DB, what'd your fei feng attack look like?

i dont think is flagtail had anythink to with stingray , i been keep 2 flagtail over 3 year with all my ray with no issure , ONLY I THINK OF IS PBASS , I SAW MY KELBERI AND AZUL PUT SOME MARK ON MY BIG FLOWER RAY

Kinda similar to heater burn over 2/3 of her back. Tattered up disc perimeter.

Watch the FF eat. They're pickers. If they pick at the middle of the ray it's gonna look a lot different then if they get a lil piece they can rip off.

I had a similar situation happen a few weeks back. New ray's disk was all tattered. I flipped. A very expensive ray. I moved my Tor. More damage the next night. Divided all the rays from the injured one. Next morning same damage on different ray. Culprit? Fire Eel. Watched him do it again later that evening.

Moral of the story..... No 2 situations are the same. What works for some will not work for others. Some people have NO issues whatsoever with certain fish. BUT those people should realize it can happen to them at any time. And when it does don't expect to hear "Oh, I was wrong for 3 years".

Simple solution...... Go with "majority". Set up a pole of people who have had years of no troubles with thier FF and of people who have had issues, and of people who will NEVER keep another FF due to the problems they have caused.

ahhhh...it looks so bad.
