My friend and i were discussing this thread today and we both agree its your geo doing the damage because of the way your rays disc is shreaded and not chewed. You said you were going to turn the lights off in your tank to catch the culprit what was the out come?

kids all behave when they know daddy is watching...didn't notice anyone picking on the ray when the lights were off.

Since removing the FT though the ray is much more active and I haven't seen any new bite marks. Hopefully he heals up quickly and the FT was the problem. Sucks, he was doing such a great job of cleaning the tank too...:irked:

I agree FT's are great for that. Glad to hear the ray is ok and god luck :D

Well did you figure it out, was it the flag tail?

Its the cichla, even though you would expect larger bite marks they can also do small ones around the disk but then can end up taking alot of the disc out.

Thats what i have with mine im trying to move her on now as i cant offer her the home she needs with the cichla around and my other tanks would not be fair to put her.

Keep a close eye on it

bones, how big are you cichla?

In any case, the ray is back to his normal coloration and as active as ever. No new bite marks and I think he's starting to heal up (kind of slow though).

Hopefully he heals up but I'm not too familiar with rays so I'm not even sure it will :(

They will heal up and grow back. Btw bones, that ray dont look good, not just becouse of the bitemarks, but also the hip bones a clearly visible, and its sunken between the eyes, get her feeding, HEAVY!
