cichla fogo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any chance one of these buggers has somehow made it to the canal system in lower Florida. In know the cichla fishing is off the chain down there but don't know what types r commonly caught.

If someone had one they wouldn't have let it go in a canal, they would have sold it for a but load of money!

I am just looking for info on where they live. What country and what water system. I will do the rest. If u live life thinking your dreams are impossible than what's the point of living?

Countries: Brazil.

River Basins: upper Rio Tapajos drainage (Juruena and Teles Pires rivers) and the mid and upper Xingu (Fresco, Batovi, Culuene and Suia-Missu rivers.

Found in both the channels and lagoons of mid-gradient rivers. In higher gradient rivers, fish found mostly in floodplain lagoons.

So Fogo are Cichla mirianae? So what species are Xingu I, II, and III then?
Yes that is correct.

This is from Fugupuff earlier this year below:

fogo = marianae, which nobody has

all the xingus from around the US all came from Michael in Germany, wild or F1., and distributed by myself and one other individual, and including the ones you see in Taiwan, and Phillipines. Which means they are all melaniae. xingu I,II,III is just some assignment people gave to the same fish, but various stages of the same fish which looks different. Possibly caught in upper or lower xingu, but from what I see, they all look the same.

interesting... what types of cichla do you have on hand at the moment MASTER B?? also my florida trip is booked. i will be leaving the 2nd week of april to go cichla fishing. i am hoping i can bring a few back with me reguardless of their type.

i remember hearing that fogo are in a body of water that is has some type of preserve on one side and tribal land on the other. is this correct? does anybody know? also, you can look up pictures and video of people who have had access to fogo atleast to fish for them. i wonder if it is any different to become liscenced to export a few of them than it is any other breed of cichla. i dunno just trying to fill my head with the knowledge.
