I picked up some rainbows about 2 months ago, I'd highly recommend them. They have amazing active personalities and they really live up to their names of rainbows. I've already seen my guys in white, light blue, yellow, gold, and bronze. They're amazing to watch.

100% right, and they have personality that you don't see out of tother small cichlids like apistos, rams, etc

imo, firemouths are worth dirt too haha

Alot of good info im hearing on rainbos so maybe I will go with them. Are they diggers?

I've got about 15-20 1" inch babys right now. I'm in MD too.

I know I said I would stay away from anything convict but I actually like these cichlids. Do you ship? What part of MD do you live in?

Sorry I can't make up my mind guys there are alot more options than I thaught :D.

I would go with a pair of jewels. They look awesome and are very aggressive. Salvinis COULD work but I think theyre a little too territorial for that small of a tank.

no, not really . . . they are planted-tank safe, if that is why you're asking . . .

I agree with those who said they have lots of personality; absolutely true

I would go with some kind of cryptoheroes other than convicts. Honduran red points would be cool. Firemouths I think would be okay, but I would try a different Thorichtys sub-species. If your interested in something a little less aggressive you could try rams or apistos

i said basically the same thing haha. maculipinnis, aureus and pasiones are great looking fish.

Again I would prefer CA cichlids so im not looking at rams. I don't think salvinis are for my setup. I would also prefer a more rowdier cichlid than rainbows. Somethign that diggs too ie im not looking for a planted tank safe cichlid nor a community tank safe cichlid. But I want to ask where can I get some of these fish suggested? The only cichlids I see for sale are firemouths and convicts. I would prefer an online retailer...

I'd be surprised if your lfs didn't have any jewels. Just ask the person in charge if they'll be ordering whatever fish you want and see what they say. I would google some pet stores near you and call to see what they have in stock. Most of the cichlids named aren't super rare.
