big dif, run your hand across your Oscar once and watch him shed his whole slime coat. not going to argue this, if any thing you do can compromise a fishes immune system then there is no good reason to do it.

Wow mine looks almost identical :o but mine won't come see me till I turn the lights down.

+1 on the flowerhorn. Or if a good "looking" fish isn't necessary, I find a big fat ol' tilapia to have wicked glass character haha.

Fishkeeping is my cocaine.
 
Best personality in terms of always being out never gets moody never hides never runs away may turn for a split second when spooked and then charges back at you and hits the glass trying to attack guests when they come over..midas... Personalities vary with other types fish but not so much with the Midas they are outright outgoing fish...
Only downside is prepare for that to be the only fish in your tank....

can keep a female fine in a 75g or 90, here is my little darling.

 
IMO an Oscar or a Midas/Red devil is what your looking for. Both will live in a 75gl for life, both will wag their tails off for you when you approach the tank. Midas/RD are more aggressive than Oscars if your looking for a biter go with the RD/Midas.
 
IME, JD is shy and only interactive when they are juvies greedy for food. Festae is a spouse killer but shy from human. Oscar is interactive because they have huge appetite and are always hungry. GT is to personable in a way that male GT wants to mate with human if he has no mate. FW, Midas, Jaq and Dovii are highly interactive because they want to attack anything that moves.
 
mine are not shy, but live in the living room with 6 kid house hold, they use to lots of folks around.
