Cichlid with best personality??

big dif, run your hand across your Oscar once and watch him shed his whole slime coat. not going to argue this, if any thing you do can compromise a fishes immune system then there is no good reason to do it.

I do agree, although I am a huge fisherman and handle fish all the time! I highly doubt that handlin fish even for a few minutes like I often have to does much harm to them. If it did then why would native keepers occasionally catch their fish with rod and reel and hold them while they take out the hook? Just my opinion, but I do agree to handle fish as little as you can (although cats probably don't matter much since they don't have scales).

nice male and female. :)

Thanks pops was kinda hoping for fry just to see the outcome but he looks like pairing up with my Mayan :), strange though because he's rejected two female jags smashed them up when I removed divider , I tried it year ago suppose he must have mellowed a bit since then

Picked up a baby flowerhorn about a month ago, and within a week its already begging for food and hovering around my hand while I'm vacuuming.

I love this video:

Going to get some haters
But my most interacive are dwarfs and swords. My cac greets me with flaired gills and my swords attack through water change. When the 14" ghost knife gets a change he goes for the hose but other than that he hides. The Mozambique tilapia i used to have shot substate at the glass and i can't wait wait to get more but unfortunately out of trend hete.

oscar, texas, midas, flowerhorn then non cichlid and better koi, giant gourami and mbu puffer!-)

All cichlids have personality but I experienced two distinct two types: crazy neurotic fish like red devils and flowerhorn that mindlessly attack anything and everything, all the time. They attack each other, attack your finger and follow it around, charge the glass seeing their own reflection, when you walk by , and every very damn shadow. This to me is tiresome and stressful.

Oscars and mbu (non-cichlid) display the most puppy like personality. Dig, chase, cruise, sulk, lay on the gravel, and lots of other behaviors rhat are more personable. Just my 2 cents
