Quarantine Tank
Just started my fish unit with myy 1st graders. Tank is cycling and just having some funny discussions!

Still trying to figure out what to get, either some colorful africans or breeding pair of cons. Thoughts?

I will update this as the unit progresses. Enjoy!

that list is the best, they know more than most petsmart employees

Cool! I like your method of teaching them :)

Thanks all, we just got done doing some serious math testing so I can finally start having some fun and teach some science!

I think a pair of breading convicts should be interesting enough for the kids. That way you can give them all each a baby fish to take home with them and hope they grow up to become future MFK'ers.

I just bought a plywood 180g tank for my high school classroom. I debated for a long time whether it was worth the risk of setting up a tank and having them torture the fish by knocking on the glass, throwing things in the water or throwing things at it. After reading about so many nice tanks people have in their classes, I though I'd give it a try and the price was right ($300 for tank, stand, lids, lights and heater). Thanks for giving me a little more confidence in trying it out.

I love the idea....But the downside is then gr8 would have to teach sex-ed. What happens if the male kills the female?
