cleaning a tank with a mean fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
honestly when my flowerhorn charges my hand i poke him in the nose and it takes him a minute to figure out what's going on lol

True, if you're not wet, then you didn't do goo job cleaning. :D

If I tried to poke my big guy in the nose, odds are it would end up in his mouth.
He hits pellets out of the tank before they hit the water.
His accuracy is pretty good.
:headbang2

Probably going to get flamed for this...chase him around the tank with your hand.
A friends dovii will act nice and tough and chase fingers from feet away but once his hand is in the tank he just sits and lets him do his thing.

How do you chase him around? He stands in place and when you move back he moves forward lol.

I have a about a 10inch Oscar and a 8inch Texas hybred and whenever the try to "Debo" my hand while cleaning I flick them off. The Texas has learned not to mess with me but the Oscar still trys to this day.

Nothing like cleaning a tank with a pissed off turtle, good way to lose a finger, at least they're a lot slower.

When I do the Oscars tank one of them bites my arm and it doesn't really hurt unless he gets my arm hair in his mouth then pulls! :WHOA:

When I do the Jag's tank he just goes mental at the python/gravel filter which is a good job because he is big and teethy!!

And my Fire Eel just swims around my arm and hand looking for food!

I had the same thing happen once when my red devil was still growing. I just had my room mate block it on the other half of the tank with a large net and it was enough to ward it off. It just took a couple times like that and it mellowed out and hasn't gotten agressive again since.
