Climate Change.....So Sorry......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i cant remeber where. i do remember scientists saying that the clouds that form behind the jets(the long white ones?) can cool the earth. the same phenominom happend with 9/11. those clouds can cool the earth. ill try to find it

Your logic is not well reasoned. The article you used as a source says:

"Experts stressed that the volcano contributed just a tiny amount -- less than a third of one percentage point -- of global emissions of greenhouse gases."

Our emissions are far more than the volcano's.

Additionally, whilst volcanoes emit CO2 and other gases, large volcanic eruptions actually contribute to global cooling, because they emit particles (Sulfur Dioxide) into the upper atmosphere and block some of the sun's rays from hitting the earth. So this whole thread is, quite honestly, completely inaccurate and misleading. Research goes a long ways.

According to your own source you are completely wrong about the volcanic eruption in Iceland being a significant contributor to global CO2.

From your link:

Experts stressed that the volcano contributed just a tiny amount -- less than a third of one percentage point -- of global emissions of greenhouse gases.

Total emissions by six heat-trapping gases in 2005 were more than 36 thousand million tonnes (36 gigatonnes) as measured in CO2, according to the WRI index.

"It's not of any significance compared to the anthropogenic [manmade] budget," said Kjetil Toerseth, director of regional and global pollution at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research.

Specialists cautioned those who believe the eruption is good for climate change as carbon-emitting jetliners are unable to take to the skies.

I missed your post - it is funny how the article the OP linked to totally contradicts his own baseless assertion. :nilly:

What's even funnier is he promotes himself as smarter than the rest of us:ROFL:

Good point, but It would come across alot better without the condesencion

Im just revolted by it all. And yes, the carbon fanatics were against offshore drilling but they didnt make their case very well. They were too busy spreading climategate talking points around.

I'm at a loss as to where the volcanic eruptions have anything to do with the carbon footprint of humanity. Just because a volcano erupts and dispenses large amounts of volcanic ash, gasses and debris, does not discount what people are trying to accomplish. Yes, there are things that are outside of our control that do affect the environment, but does that give us any right to make things worse? The goal is to lessen our impact on the world. Also, keep in mind that a lot of the rationale behind driving hybrid cars and conserving energy has to do with the depleting natural resources, not the emissions.

Yet we are still reproducing at a record rate...

Yes, it does discount what people are trying to do! Why? Because what people are doing is pointless! Why spend untold billions to regulate and kill an economy when it is pointless? People on this planet also exhale on a daily basis 7,260,000 tons (yes tons!) of carbon dioxide a day. How are they going to cap and trade that? Outlaw breathing? Can man control volcanoes? What about decaying matter? Methane? There is no way man can make a significant dent if he tries! There is also absolutely no proof that it will help either!!!

You seem to forget that air is composed 78.09% Nitrogen, 20.95% Oxygen, 0.93% Argon, and 0.03% Carbon Dioxide. When we inhale our lungs take the oxygen and exhale the rest of the gases. The Carbon dioxide was already there. We don't make anymore of it through breathing.
