Cloning the Wolly Mammoth

thats what my guns are for ... choot em jacob !!!

Deinonychus is what they were.

I was wondering if they were a different species or parents of the smaller ones.... I don't remember if a distinction between the two was made in the movies.

I don't know, there is a lot of people that are scared of mid sized dogs and velociraptor is probably a lot more dangerous at similar size:

I only meant size wise. I imagine owning a Velociraptor would be akin to owning a medium sized wild caracal. NOT a prospect that sounds enjoyable to me! LOL

There was an implied distinction. The normal ones in the movies were based on Deinonychus, the 'big girl' was based on a species that was undescribed at the time of the movie, Utahraptor. Utahraptor is a raptor that was as massive as the largest lions and tigers.

Interesting.I might have a new hobby.

They may have hunted like lions, too: as pack animals.

I hope they make an appearance in the new JP movie!

There's a new JP movie? LOL... I did NOT know that. I hope it isn't as painfully sucktacular as JP3.

If there is, I doubt they'll do anything other than the normal 'JP raptors'. It would be cool to see a 7' tall, 23' long 800 pound raptor though. I'd like to see a trio of them knock off a rex LOL

There is a new movie and the premise is back in the original island. I am thinking if they will make an appearance, the raptors will be shown with feathers this time. I am hoping for more than just raptors to be seen. I'd like more ceratopsians like the Pentaceratops or the 'Medusa', basal Titanosaurs like Paralititan or Argentinosaurus (with scutes or skin armor) and other contemporary repltiles of the Mesozoic like the plesiosaurs and the modasaurs since they already showed a pteranodon.

That would be a cool battle! Imagine, raptors are pretty intelligent as they have been found to have the largest braincases among reptiles. They are quick, too. How do you think 3 of them would finish a 43 feet, 7 ton T-rex?

Well a 43 foot rex would be unusually large. The largest complete specimen is Sue at 42 feet.

Utahraptor may or may not be able to knock it down with just three, especially if it was an especially large rex like you mentioned. Honestly I don't know if they could, but I would like to see it happen. I was thinking more along the lines of a 33ish foot long, 4 ton young adult male, not a big old, massive, cranky female.

I'd like to see a JP movie with the raptors properly feathered. They were, after all, the sister lineage to birds.

I got confused with 23' as 3x 20f feet long raptors, hahaha! I like how how you know that a 43 feet would most likely be an old massive cranky female and how it would be almost impervious to an type of small predator. I would love to see how any Dromaeosaur will be feathered, too. Also, Lambeosaurines like Olorotitan would be cool if CGI'ed properly.

Nostalgic!
