Lights actually can screw with water appearance. I think it's a problem with the camera itself more than the lights/aquarium/water though. My 20 Long has a standard hood light above it, but it's a violet color bulb, I think for plant growth or something, or maybe a reptile light (bought it on Craigslist). With the black gravel the light makes any pictures I take of that tank look washed out/cloudy, but the water is crystal clear in person.

lol Yeah, but these were basically high-res pictures. Everything else in the pic was clear and well visible and all the colored stuff in the pics were fine. Plus if ya knew the stock you'd understand:grinno:

my roommates like to leave the large window directly in front of my 100 gallon open all day. coupled with the sink and front door windows as well. if i can catch it quick i can usually have clear water for a couple weeks. one sunny day and me not there i always come back to a nice hazy water..

well i worked in a fish store for years so... heard a lot, but i guess i blocked most of them out from memory... worst one: the peanut M&Ms they fed their oscars made the water cloudy :(

my fish will not quit smoking even though they promised.

Mine too. :( Of course, me blowing smoke rings in there with the rigid air line probably isn't helping.. :grinno:
