im sure that if boise state wanted to play the big time schools they would not say no. thats cool that san jose state plays those teams but will they beat them? highly doubt it.

You are wrong. Lot's of BCS boys do not want to play BSU.

The story is starting to get some national attention as ESPN.com's Bruce Feldman has begun tweeting about it and a conversation he had with Benson. Feldman is characterizing the teams that refused the offer as "elite programs."

No one is naming names, but here are some teams that have openings in 2011, according to nationalchamps.net: Michigan, Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas A&M, Alabama (though the Crimson Tide plays at Penn State in 2011), Texas, Oklahoma State

the argument that boise state would not survive in the SEC is bogus. you have to look at complete body of work. 53 and 4 in the last 4 years including knocking down every big team that has dared stepped up to them. All boise has wanted is a home and home but those power conferences refuse to do it. now espn is helping boise try to schedule games with power conferences and dropping the need for a home game in return and they still refuse to play them.

i understand the SEC is tough but imagine you were on Boise or TCU in the last couple of years and teams refuse to play you and the BCS commitee ruined a chance for you to play a big team last year...all you keep doing is winning and winning while people from other conferences keep saying but they don't play the schedule we do while REFUSING to play you?!? how is that your fault? if they played in the SEC, they'd be a better team as they'd have better athletes and they'd be deeper so who knows how things would've turned out. i

Anyways, who cares, i'm in eugene, go ducks!

Why doesn't Bama or Buckeyes play home/home against TCU or BSU in their OOC schedule? Cuz they want to play cupcakes to inflate their records and rankings. Their excuses is everything to lose but nothing to gain, but at the same time whining about BCS busters soft schedule.

BTW, San Jose State had the toughest schedule per Sagarin. They played,
#1 Bama
#11 Badgers
#13 Utes
#21 Nevada
and playing #3 Boise St.

Bama ranked 27 in scheduling as of now.

there you go, and if they went undefeated I would absolutely crown them kings of college football...

best Bosie team vs you pick an SEC team and I believe it would be a close game, and that Boise would probably be favored to win against most.

...but then the next week, and the week after that, and kellen moore gets banged up, and the week after that, and the week after that, and pretty soon to rest your "starters" your playing guys who barely made it into division 1 football.

Guys that would start at other programs ride the pine at teams like AL and FL. We're 3 strings back in athletes that could beat most other teams and that will have a good shot at the NFL. That's the SEC difference and that's why it's incredibly difficult to go undefeated. Not to mention the best coaches in the land are coaching in the SEC.

Again how many top ten teams have the weenie leagues played this year? there are like 5 or 6 in the sec...

The PAC 10 has some great teams but the difference between the best and the worst is a pretty big gap. Not to mention you guys don't have a conference championship to survive. Bama very well may meet SC again in Atlanta. That's something PAC 10 teams don't have to worry about.

Don't kid yourself. You wouldn't not, not if Auburn or LSU run the table and wins the conference, or if OSU or Oregon run the table. You will go back to your weak conference argument that San Jose State is a fluke. Besides, SJS will never catch up to the current ranking hierarchy, and their conference schedule will allow them to be jumped by any other undefeated BCS team.

Not picking on SEC but If SEC is so much superior how do you explain Jacksonville State over Ole miss?

You forgot to taken account that if Boise is in the SEC they will have a deep roster like the rest of SEC schools because they are in the SEC thus will have the same recruiting talents.

would that really benefit them though? Instead of being a standout in a weak conference they'd be just another SEC team. You think they'd put up the same numbers and recruit the same caliber of athletes if they were competing with Florida, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, etc.

Yeah so there are a few crappy teams in the SEC. Most of them in MS, the other in TN. So what. It's better than a whole conference of crappy teams punctuated by one or two teams that can actually play ball and thus exult in the adulation of fans who live in an alternative reality where playing against wyoming is the same thing as beating arkansas at arkansas, or SC at SC...
:screwy:

Why not? When USF moved up to the Big East the caliber of their players didn't diminish as they were competitive enough to be in bowl games and not be the doormat of the conference. I am not saying Boise will go undefeated in the SEC but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that they can win the SEC title either.

The whole conference of crappy teams you speak of is the result of the BCS monopolizing the FBS system to widen the gap of competitive, financial and recruiting disparity between the haves (big six) and have not (Non-AQ).

Bottom line: We need a playoff system. If you look at NCAA baseball, a playoff system, there are three Non-BCS champs in the past 10 years, Rice, Fresno St. and Cal St. Fullerton. In NCAA basketball, a playoff system, there are two Non-BCS teams that made it to the final in the past three years, Butler and Memphis. It goes to show Non-BCS teams have the merits to go to the distance, even all the way. But under the BCS system, no Non-BCS team will ever given a shot to the national championship, let along winning it.
