Considering Removing All Decorations - Just Looking For Opinions

Nice tank jpwolf, but where are the fish?...

@ LTJD I actually use a 4 ft home depot shot lamp on this tank that I sorta built into the canopy and it's super bright so yeah, it'll totally be lit up real good.

@ littlewangzfan I could try that. See I actually got the driftwood then plants last so I have seen how it looks with just the boulders and then added a few of the larger river rocks so I dunno.

So I've actually been there while in the process of getting everything for the tank. It would probably look slightly like this eh?

I'm kind of on the idea of remove it all or don't. At least that's what I'm thinking. But I asked what everyone would do so definitely thanks for the response. No one thinks it would be decent with just everything removed except the two corner rock piles and making moving the front right one to, I dunno, back center?.... Back right would be nice if my damn overflow wasn't in the way.

Edit, now that I'm thinking about it maybe a rock pile centered on the right side would look decent?... Just the two rock piles?

Don't worry guys I'm not just talking about it. I'll actually perform what I decide to do tomorrow and post pics. ;)

Depends on the fish... If I removed everything in my Cichlid tanks all hell would probably break loose as they act as boundary lines and hides.

Really depend on the fish...if you have more than a couple cichlids, I suggest more instead of less decorations. As for aesthetics, I prefer off center decorations...I don't like perfectly symmetric looking tanks...For instance, the wolf tank, the tank could be a lot more attractive by moving the rock/driftwood a third left or right.

Also, I do see some clown loaches? the oscar in 3-5 month is going to reach a size that will eat them if you don't provide them proper hiding places.

Okay, I'm considering removing all the decorations in my tank and just doing plain old substrate and nothing else. Few reasons why. ............................................ Maybe enjoy the free space even more? Think the tank will still look good? Not as good? It'll definitely make maintenance easier. What would you do if it were your decision?

Everything that is learned about tank decorations is mentioned here........"The plants fail and are brown, without the rocks there will be more swimming space, the rock piles collect fish waste."This is why I go bare when it comes to tanks larger than 100g.........I may place some sand or gravel, but no extreme driftwood or large rock..........More swimming space the better..........Unless I am breeding the fish in the tank, I do not put any type of decoration for them to be in or around......PLants are always in need of Co2 care, and they do die, creating unneeded waste...........Rocks can be an obstruction to the fish, and are known to scratch fish eye balls and scales right off of the fish if there is a storm of frustration...........
