I feed my baby con's Hikari First Bites Fry Food. It's very fine and high in protein. My babies grow like crazy on it. And it's cheap, a $2 package goes a long way. They have a high metabolizm so feed several times a day. Since the fry are usually at the bottom of the tank I dip my fingers in the tank and then into the package of fry food and roll up what gets on my fingers into a little ball and then put it the tank right above the fry some will break off right away and the rest will soon follow. This way the fry don't have to go and find the food and there is less food placed in the tank to ensure they are getting enough.

If you crush flake REALLY crush it into a fine fine powder. Those swimming pin heads have tiny mouths. At a 1/4 inch I crush flake in my fingers for them and they eat it without any problems

The thread title sounds like some thing from a jail newspaper! LOL! :D

Glad to hear everything worked out for them! When you said the sac looked red, all I thought was prolapsed rectum...

Yes the gravel vac would suck them up so be careful when doing that. Other fish will try to eat some babies if they get a chance. As for feeding the babies, if their yolk sac is gone you can feed them fish flakes really crushed up. They also have special food too that you can buy. Lots of baby fish love live brine shrimp too. DO those other copns still have those marks?

nope they all look perfectly normal. well all the cons do. the cat fish are lookin pretty stressed out though. the convicts wont even let them out from under this mushroom thing. my cats are losing their shininess..

Good luck with our new fry!!! Well, are they free swimming yet? or just eggs? You will find that this is a start to many spawns! Cons breed very easy....

nope theyre swimming freely now. thats how i first noticed them. i thought the mom looked extra wide about 2 weeks before i noticed the babies. then one day i was feeding them (funny bc i mumbling something about there not being any babies yet) and i squatted down to look in the tank and BAM =) like 250- 300 teeny tiny babies!! now, one week later, theres about 100 left. id really like to just make it a convict tank but i dont know where to put my cats......
