I doubt a pair of convicts could kil an 8'' oscar but a small juvi oscar I can see. Any CA or SA cichlid pair will become more agressive during their breeding rituals, and convivts are no exception to this rule. Convicts for their size are pretty fiesty cichs and not to be underestimated, but the thought of them killing an 8'' oscar is hard to believe.

Unless the convicts were full grown with the male at 6" and the female ar 4".

I believe the story, a convict pair is a strong force. I have heard many horror storys about convict pairs.

With that said oscars are underestimated to in their agression, if anyone has witnessed a breeding pair of oscars they know what I am talking about

As a child we had a pair of oscars and an adult Jack Dempsey. They lived in relative harmony until they oscars mated. After that the Jack was never seen again!

She said her Oscar was 2-2 1/2 inches long and that her Convicts were less than an inch.

i don't know but i really don't think that baby convicts that are under a inch in size are thinking about pairing up and breeding... my convict and firemouth breed 4 times and i don't remember the babies acting that way... don't get me wrong i'm not saying all are like that but mine didn't get(mean) that way til they got bigger...

I could beleive it. Oscars are pretty slow and deliberate in there movments. Convicts could litterally swim circles around an oscar. Pound for pound (or should I say ounce for ounce) convicts are way more aggresive than oscars.

oh, and i'm pretty much convinsed that the convicts were ready to breed since convicts can be the nastiest fish around breeding season.
my friend had a clown knife around 3" and a pair of convicts that were smaller and they started to attack the knifefish so he had to remove it.

OK, baby oscars are not slow, but they aren't half as fast as convicts. And with oscars, the older the slower.

my o's would kick there ass
