jewels are crazy, any hemichromis is pretty damn agressive.

i wouuld never underestimate a convict but it really would have to have some real size to kill any oscar at 8''.

With that said oscars are underestimated to in their agression, if anyone has witnessed a breeding pair of oscars they know what I am talking about

Acutally I have owned many breeding pairs of oscars. Including wild oscars. And when breeding they do become more aggresive however during my 18 years of keeping cichlids I have found that oscars even when breeding are incapable of backing up their aggresion. Most other equal sized cichlids can shred them without much trouble. Just recently I had a 12" pair of F0 oscars spawn in 265. They were both beaten down by a single 9" trimac. I remember at a LFS I saw a pair of 10" oscars get forced fromt their fry by a 7" red devil. A friend of mine lost the male of his pair to a smaller motaguense. The male was tring to protect his fry and attacked the mota the oscar was mauled.

Since my last post on this thread, all my convicts have been eaten, so I'm rootin' for the oscars now. lol
