Id like to put the chocolate in the 35 gallon by himself, but trying to get rid of a mean ass red devil is hard. Noone wants them. lol. I bought her because she was cute and knew nothing about fish.

You still dont know anything about fish. Do some research.

The pet shop lady told me it would be fine as long as I have adaquate filtration, 2 penguin biowheel 350s (on the 60 gallon)

And judging from the fact that Ive been going to the same store for years and she keeps similiar numbers of similiar fish in her aquariums ...and they are still there....seems shes right.

He's not being a jerk, you are being a "know it all." And ummmm, you don't know it all. In fact you are recieving really good advise from people with lots of experience and calling us names....yipes!

Yes you did need to start somewhere, but when the lives of others are on the line, its a good plan to know their needs BEFORE you take on the responsibility. You do need to do some research.

As for your fish store lady... casual observation. The more fish she sells you,the more $$ she makes. The worse the situation in your tank is, the more $$ she makes selling you meds, bigger tanks etc... She profits from giving you poor advise and looses $ when she gives you good advise. We don't profit whether we give you good advise or bad advise. Keep that in mind.

the reason why you see the same fish in the tanks for years is because they get different fish because they tell people that they can fit in tanks obviously too small for them lol

you have three messy messy eaters in a small tank without good enough filtration.
a pair of oscars need atleast 100g easily. a chocolate can get almost as big and is equally as messy. they need a 75g and excellent filtration.

Please do not put a chocolate cichlid in a 35G all by himself - it is cruel. Either buy a bigger tank or keep the chocolate in the 65G and give away your Oscars.

Yep, 1 choc in the 65 might work, pair of cons in the 35 should work, O's and RD need to go though...or alternately get yourself a big tank (125 would be good) and build it around your O's and chocolate.

Mike, don't feel too bad. We all started somewhere in this hobby. This site is great because their are so many people with years of knowledge and experience. We just have to remember to put the fish first. Just because a fish fits in a tank doesn't mean that it should. I think that you can keep all of your fish in bigger and separate tanks. A breeding pair of convicts will fight just about any thing, even your hand! They'll be okay in a 60gal. The other fish you have would live longer and healthier lives in larger tanks. Sounds like you want the best for your fish. Bigger and separate tanks would be a good start. Good Luck Mike.
