hahahaha when wil they breed you will be up to your ears in convicts they breed in wet grass and gestation with 80 degree water is like a week or less females have red bellies and they dont turn black they will get more color during breeding lighter darker who cares you will have more convicts than you can handle after a year

It doesn't take a week to hatch if the temperture is 80 degrees. It too me 28 hour's.

If you want your con's to breed the male has to be slightly larger, and or else the female may kill him. How big is your tank, also if you want them to breed faster raise the temperture to 78-82 degrees. Good Luck!

Size tank, water conditions. Doesnt matter. Cons could breed in a sewer.

The tank is a 10 gal. workin on getting a bigger one for a bargain, anyway the male is bigger you should be able to see from the pic and he seems to harass her most of the time. She basically doesnt fight him much. Well the first week I had them they were both the same size but he really outgrew her in the last week.

Temps been 80 for two days now.

dont worry sometimes it takes them awhile to breed i lost my last pair randomly and i now have a new pair iv had them for almost a month and still nothing

Well, that's not good, Your male harasses her?? When I was 18 my male convict lived with a female her size, but they never laid egg's or mated. So If I were you..get a larger tank 20-30 gallon tank, Because sometime's CONVICT'S will fight for the whole tank if it's small, But, How big are your CON'S?? If nothing happen's, Try getting another male CON, that's what I did, it worked too. If you look for another male CON, try looking in the aquarium for a mated pair, pick out the strongest male in their, GOOD LUCK

Huh, that's weird?? Why does your female have black spot's all over her body?? My New Male I got has some black spot's too. I alway's wondered where did he get it??

I made perfect caves I dont think that is a factor. I guess she'll be ready when she's ready.

Still nothing though, although the fish look great since I been giving them so much attention lol.
