convicts are prob the easiest fish to breed ever it dosent take much at all it looks like ya got about everything you could posably need 1 male one female and probably another two weeks good luck

Man, I can't stop mine from breeding.. The first fry I got 3 months ago are having fry of their own.. Would be nice to have some kind of birth control in there.. lol.
Everything looks good though.. If I had to have a reason for no lovin, i'd say it's the tank size... although the first male/femal I brought home were in a 10g at the lfs and they were already expecting..

The problem with convicts in a small aquarium? The Male beats the living daylight out of the female - In my personal experience it has never worked

I come back from my 10 day honeymoon and I have about 100 fry swimming around. I didnt have the light on and thought it was dirt so I was about to take the filter screen off ( I had put up in case fry were born while I was gone) and the female BIT MY FINGER. It felt like a suction cup but still I was like what the hell. I put the light on and that dirt is 100 or so little guys swimming by mom and pop!
Any suggestions? Im thinking about transferring the babies to a new 30gal and leave the parents by themselves to mate again.

If you remove the babies, the male may be inclined to get his freak on again. The female, not so much. End result, shredded female.
