scrape a piece of it off allow it to dry then drip a bit of lemon juice on it if it fizzes upon contact with the algae, it is most likely coralline.

P.S. don't do this experiment near or in the tank.

Im pretty set on the idea that its coralline now.One other thing too metion that it only had the blue spectrum of light and no white.Just hung up a shop light with one blue one white 2 40 watt no bulbs.Im also adding calcium and stontium think i need to add iodine too will pickup some.

some ive talked too people think coraline does better under actinics then white for some reason.


the strontium wont do much for you, it only has anecdotal evidence to support its use. you wanna be using magnesium. mag and calc to most important.
 
I don't know... It looks alot like cyano to me. Coralline typically grows in round spores that gradually come together as they grow larger...

Do what reef said so we can be sure.

thats a good rule.




be especially careful with iodine if you decide to dose it, iodine can be nasty stuff when overdosed.

I thought if it was cyano then it would rubb off easy this stuff is really on there its inside of the rocks.Might try it when i go back to the groceary store to pick up some lemon juice.

How about purple up do i need to test calcium stontium and iodine.Becuase it has all theses in it i have a 55 gallon so i would be adding one cap per day.
 
Shurely some of the rock i got has some coralline in it i bought 13 pounds he said it was fiji some of the others are showing sighns.If this dont work out may have to go all the way to knoxville to the coral reef i know hes got good rock with coralline all over it.
