I' have lucky bamboo in my goldfish tank as these are my highest bio-load fish. If my wishlist wasn't so high already and my income so unreliable , I could move towards making my largest tank planted again. Past attempts have been dismal with bacteria blooms/ water quality problems resulting from rotting plants. It's so much harder to get tanks in a dark basement planted due to the amount of light needed.

wow I have a 125 gallon in my dinning room a 29 gallon in my living room a 75 gallon in my hallway a 5 gallon in my kicthen and a 29 gallon i am thinking about setting up and i am looking for another tank to replace the 75 and move the 75 to my basement for a breeding pair

At my rental house right now, I have two fifty fives, one forty gal, one thirty gal, one ten gal and one six gal setup. If this house didn't have such major problems that has been killing fish, I would bring over another fifty five and a hundred fifty gal that remains at my parents house.
All I want to add to that list is a seventy for the three goldfish to condense two tanks of them into one. Then, I'm done for a good long time, maybe until I move for job reasons and quit the hobby.

My tanks receive a constant drip from large filtered holding tanks at the center of the hatchery. But, the gravel washing still has to be done manually. But, for me it's a Zen thing. The maintenance actually calms and centers things for me. It's time to think, not just work.

lol now I know Im not alone. I actually look forward to water changes and vacuuming the substrate and in all honesty, the only reason I want to setup auto-drip systems is to help the wife out while I travel......she does NOT look forward to tank maintenance.

I have all my tanks located within hose-shot of one sink, so I just move the hose from tank to tank Sundays while I watch football, etc. I start with the tanks inside the house and work my way to the garage just in case the games are good and I forget that I'm changing water. I've flooded a garage tank or two, but the water runs down the driveway into the street..........

I currently run only 5 but at one point I had about 20. Now I have fewer but they are bigger.

Just in my personal view, I think that someone that has that many tanks might actually have an addiction. I understand some people enjoy it and it doesn't casue a problem, but I feel that it is not necessarily normal for a person to want to have that many fish living inside of glass boxes in their houses. Just my personal opinion though. Different strokes for different folks.

You joined a website solely dedicated to fish and fish freaks. What did you expect ;]

I live in one bedroom with my Fiancee in my grand parents basment. I have a 6' circular pond ~230 gallons a 29gallon 2 55 gallons and a 10 gallon set up. It takes up over 1/3rd of the space in the room. I maintain a 20gallon saltwater FOWLR for my grandparents and its basicly my tank till I leave and it stays behind. I also have a 38 gallon another 55gallon and a 5 gallon sitting empty. Your not doing too bad compared to me, And i've only been keeping fish since about October/November 2010

I don't see a problem, everyone likes different things an has different hobbies. I have a 75 in my room an a 10 in the kitchen, an I'm planning on getting a 70 tall for an angel setup.

My sumps have pothos and lucky bamboo in them. Also, I inadvertently have gammarus living in my sumps. All of these help break down and process waste materials in the system. I can't keep plants in my tanks since they'll either be constantly moved or eaten.

Pothos is no longer allowed in my tanks, same with lucky bamboo. I had such bad experience with them. They didn't do anything. I think people who say these plants worked must have had a ton of them in their tanks. Mine just rotted away or fish will chew on it.

Here's a sure fire way to remove nitrates without plants.
drain out water (I do it halfway)
then fill back up
then drain again half of what you drained before
then fill back
do it again the following week

i have 2 x 4ft tanks in our living/dining area - the mrs whinges about them all the time - everytime i see a good deal on a new tank, i get death starred at - no words just the stare...we only live in a small unit and the tanks take up majority of the space.
