Tonga volcano blast was unusual, could even warm the Earth (msn.com)

Hello; An interesting read. Seems the big eruption pushed lots of water into the upper atmosphere. Speculation being the extra water vapor will linger for a few years and could cause global warming. A purely natural event. Perhaps a rare event as measured with modern equipment.
I do know volcanoes erupt in the oceans and have in recorded history.

Hello; Heard today on a TV show that currently the vaccinated have more Covid deaths at 58% than unvaccinated. Have not confirmed this with a different source. Can anyone confirm?

Read the same in a Fox News article

Well I'm Fully (triple) vaccinated and I've had covid twice while vaccinated, so maybe I'm just special and good at beating diseases.

........ and for those that missed the point that I was attempting to illustrate above - what this really all boils down to is individual immune systems, possibly even including individual gut bacteria, etc-etc-etc. Not my place to tell others what is best for them and their bodies as I have no idea what their overall personal health condition, age, etc, is, but when a collective group is considered, you know, like an entire country, sometimes hard decisions have to be made. And with a moving target, best guesses based on the science available at the time may be required.

Who Is Dying from COVID Now and Why - Scientific American

"Because a large portion of the U.S. population has at least one COVID shot, the majority of deaths are now among vaccinated people. In July 59 percent of COVID deaths were among the vaccinated, and 39 percent were among people who had one booster or more. That doesn’t mean the vaccines are not working anymore; they are still highly effective at reducing the risks of severe illness and death. But their efficacy wanes over time, and continued boosters need to be combined with other precautions to prevent illness and death. In August, people age 50 and older who were vaccinated and had just one booster were three times more likely to die than people with two or more boosters, according to the CDC."

I think that some folks just see what they want to ..........
Hello; Yes some folks do seem to see only what they want to......... Here is another way to look at this sort of thing. At least the bit about how so many now being vaccinated has allowed a shift in the death dynamic.
Pretty much every vehicle now made has seatbelts. If somehow it came about that more people were dying while wearing a specific type of seatbelt, by 18%, than people not wearing a seatbelt at all, such would be big news about the effectiveness of seatbelts.
Or perhaps that 18% more people are drowning while wearing a particular type of lifejacket than those not wearing a lifejacket at all would be big news.
For me I would want to find out if the stats were for only one type of seatbelt or lifejacket or for all types. In the context of the discussion at hand my question would be about the specific type of vaccine in question for covid compared to other vaccines.

I know a more traditional sort of vaccine for covid has been in the works. Not sure if it is yet generally available nor do i know if that particular type of vaccine is included in the new stat. Would be of interest

The fact that something this obvious still needs to be pointed out is more frightening than any virus.

Would it really? How? What would be the big take-away from that carefully-isolated piece of data?

In a jurisduction where seat-belt use is mandated by law and vigorously enforced, there will be far more deaths among seat-belt wearers than among scofflaws simply because almost everyone is wearing belts. In the example you postulate above, a question is raised regarding the relative effectiveness of various types of seatbelts; is there some way to contort that logic to cast doubt upon the efficacy of wearing seatbelts in general? If there is, I expect to be reading it here...

Hello; Well lets look at it another way. Say the numbers bear out at 58% of the vaccinated being among the dead by covid. First, we must recognize that the greater majority of those infected by covid live. I do not have the latest numbers so cannot give up to date stats. This is only for the actual dead from covid. Out of two select populations of 100 people, one unvaccinated and the other vaccinated, there will be 18 more dead among the vaccinated. Stated another way there will be 18 fewer dead among the unvaccinated.
Such is what the 58% number represents is it not?

A skeptic may also question the point of this new mRNA type vaccine with such numbers. The new catchphrase is become with the vaccine you will get sick but not as sick. Seems the vast majority of covid infected were recovering on their own in the time before the vaccines. Now with a vaccine which does not prevent the disease and has side effects, the best we can hope for is = quote " they are still highly effective at reducing the risks of severe illness and death. But their efficacy wanes over time, and continued boosters need to be combined with other precautions to prevent illness and death."
So, we are to keep taking more boosters of a medication to which no liability is attached for those making and injecting the vaccine.

By the way my contention of years ago has proven correct. Those with natural immunity have just as good and likely better than vaccine immunity. Interesting that.

I think both sides are pretty firmly entrenched in their interpretations and ideology and there is little likelihood of points of view changing at this time

I always encourage researching all angles and usually with the caveat "follow the money "

At least right now we have these options
If you want to do it
If you don't don't

On a positive note my son's dog found one of my big 6 inch roselines flopping on the floor just in time for me to save him/her with no damage
