Craigslist Frustrations.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Whoa- edit made a new post?

I see the same stuff in NY but there are occasional deals. They get snapped up quick though. My rule has been I wont even look it if they are selling for more than a dollar a gallon. I know I could do even better, but only rarely.

you do know big als sells brand new 75g tanks for 100$ and thats a canadian price

dont think we have any big als down here?

You know what sucks even more NCStateFisher?? Is one of my LFS was selling a 125g w/stand, lid(s) & lights for $325 brand spankin new.. almost an impluse buy.. but I'm being patient... not the right time (space)...

:'(

Sad thing is, I wouldn't have space for it either. Honestly upgrading my 45 to a 75 is pushing it lol

150 gallon and below are pretty cheap here. I got my 150 with everything (and there was a LOT) for $500. My 55 complete (stand, multiple filters, lights, two heaters, etc.) was $100. The "best" deal I got though was two 29s complete with matching black stands and a 20 complete less stand for $40 :)

But the really big tanks are pretty rare and they bring big money. Right now, there's a 300g for $2,500. With everything that comes with it, its probably a pretty good price. But $2,500 isn't something you go out and spend on impulse lol.

Keep looking...you'll find your tank!

Offer people stupidly low prices, a lot of the time people really need the money when they start selling there personal belongings on craigs list.

This should always be taken advantage of, I just got a trial bike that was listed for 675$ for 300$ cash.

Also try lying - It works, say a friend of yours or your son (I find that if you use your own kids they expect you to show up with them) fish tank got broke and your trying to get them a good deal, because there on low income, yada yada.

"Crap Ware" is one I use alot, tell them a little bit about how outdated there stuff is, You can see when it sets in set in in there face. Offer them hella low. Don't know how well this would work with fish tanks, maybe say "looks like it will have to be resealed soon, thats gonna cost a chunk of change."

Although sometimes, I'm looking at one online right now for way less than that i'll give ya "X" works too. Some people just post higher than they want incase someone wants to pay it.

I used to post the same item twice one high price, one normal price. It can help your lower item sell fast - gotta get the good deal before its gone right? Or sometimes people will think "Ooo I want the better one, it costs more it must be better."

Yes, i work very hard at hardly working = P

You might not get it the first or second try, You have to fish for the joy of the sport, not the catch.

There is this guy who trolls the local craigslist and lowballs everything and offers like 10% of what the asking price is. His email address was like wildbill062 or something like that and people in my area selling fish stuff started ending ads with "and no 'wildbill' offers". Personally I was so offended by this man, that I would not even reply to him with a "no".

id never offer less than half and thats a bare minimum haha, i hate to lowball people unless they're jerks
