i'm pretty sure that NO its not safe probably has silica in it and the color might run into the water

Silica is perfectly safe for tanks. It's the coloring that I would be worried about.

Sadly, I have worked at the Lawn and Garden area at Wal*Mart the last 8 months (till Basic in October) We carry the pink/blue/green/purple, never really looked at the bags but when they are broken or something and the sand is everywhere the sand is really idk how to say it but "thicker and slimier" when wet than other sand. Thought about fish tank but, $6.56 for a 10lbs bag is waaaay to much in my opinion ... meh

I know this is an old thread but just to give everyone some info I have had it in a few tanks for 6-7 months with no problems. It has never died the water or hurt any of my fish.....I even had a small Armatus in there for about a month. I would say anyone can use it. Super easy to clean and it never clouds up the water.

I used to have this in a 2.5g tank with this beautiful male betta. I loved it... Really easy to clean (then again, if you only need 2 lbs of it, isnt any sand easy to clean?) and looked nice.

Well, it only looked nice because we found these little resin trees at a craft show that looked SOOO realistic so we used them and "planted" then into the sand "grass". Looked kinda awesome... sadly this is before I owned a camera... Oh, and the betta was a platinum 3/4s moon that we ended up selling to one of our old friends for about $40...

we just bought a bunch and put it in our 150 gallon tank. it is not changing the color of the water but it does make the sank chunky until you pat it all down. we are going to put on of our fish into the tank to test it before we add the rest. will let you know how it goes.

I have sand in my tank. $3.00 per bag at home depot.

Home depot sells a twenty pound bag of sand for 5 bucks. It's all natural sand. I've used it in my tanks before without any problems.
